With skyrocketing gas prices found nearly everywhere in the world now, it might be a good time to look into more fuel-efficient ways of getting around. Bike riding is the ultimate environmentally and wallet-friendly mode of transportation, but for those going long distances, it's not quite as convenient.

Panasonic has just unveiled its new Electric Motocross bike, which pretty much looks like a regular bike, but also has electric power to help you keep moving when your legs have tired out. The bike comes in your choice of green or orange.

The bikes will be available for purchase beginning June 1st, but can now be pre-ordered. Like most cool technology, this bike is launching only in Japan for the time being. It will cost 89,800 Yen (including tax).

For those who want the best of both worlds : on one hand to respect the environment (using a bycicle for short trips) and on the other hand to limitate their physical efforts as much as possible (booooh lazy !!) here is Panasonic's answer, the BE-1EPZ01 "ELECTRIC MOTOCROSS".

Don't be fooled, this is a bycicle and not a motorbike but it'll to take you from point A to point B in the limit of 31 kilometers (19 miles) at an enjoyable speed of 24kmh (15mph) so do the maths before going if you are really THAT lazy !! (weight: 20kg)

Joke aside it's a nice bicycle if you have 550€ (740$).

Firma Panasonic jest doskonale znana z dobrej jakości sprzętu elektronicznego, jednak chyba trochę mniej od strony ... rowerów. Koncern zaprezentował właśnie swój model elektrycznego roweru o dość ciekawym wyglądzie. Wizualnie Panasonic BE-1EPZ01 ELECTRIC MOTOCROSS nie szpecą go ani specjalne przekładnie, ani widoczne akumulatory. W wyposażeniu dostajemy nawet dwa bagażniki. Z detali technicznych możemy się dowiedzieć, że na jednym ładowaniu akumulatora przejedziemy tym pojazdem odcinek 31 kilometrów z prędkością maksymalną 24 kilometrów na godzinę. Całość gotowa do jazdy waży 20 kilogramów. Lenistwo przy pedałowaniu kosztuje ... 550 Euro (740 USD).
